An Honest Food Experience at the Shipwright Inn, Pembroke Dock

Halloumi fries with a gluten free batter, a golden crust lasagne packed full of mince, and views over the water while you wait.

An Honest Food Experience at the Shipwright Inn, Pembroke Dock

I'm back in Pembroke Dock, everyone, and this time I'm heading into the Shipwright Inn for my next honest food experience. Come and join me.

The first thing you notice walking in is the setting. There are views over the water that you would happily sit and look at for an hour before your food even arrives, and that is exactly what my son and I did. The menu is a good one too, with a proper specials board.

The starters

The chicken wings looked incredible and tasted every bit as good as they looked. Then the hummus with crispy lamb on top, served with bread, which completely blew me away.

My favourites were the halloumi fries. The batter on them was superb, and here is the thing a lot of people will want to know: they are gluten free. My son went for the mac and cheese starter and his verdict was simple. "Dad, they blew me away."

The main course

I went for the lasagne, and I am a huge fan of a golden crust lasagne. This one was packed full of mince and the sauce genuinely melted in my mouth. Exceptional. The chips alongside were great and the salad was properly fresh.

My son had sausage, chips and beans and gave it a massive thumbs up.

Dessert

Yes, I had room. Belgian waffles with ice cream, salted caramel and chocolate sauce. Perfecto. My son chose the chocolate fudge cake, which is also gluten free, and loved it.

The verdict

The overall experience was more than a blown away experience. The food, the service, the views, and gluten free options that are actually worth ordering rather than an afterthought.

This is a hidden gem in Pembroke Dock. Get booking, everyone.
