Rib & Oyster, Kilgetty: Probably the Best Steak I Have Ever Had

I'm in Kilgetty, everyone, and I'm about to step foot in the Rib & Oyster. The reputation of this place is absolutely incredible, so I have been looking forward to this one. Come and join me.

The welcome

Gavin greeted me on the way in. Very professional, happy, smiling, showed me to my seat and explained the specials that were on. That sets the tone for a meal before you have eaten a thing. The decor throughout is lovely too.

Starters

I went for the brie wedges. The presentation was superb and, oh my gosh, they tasted absolutely divine. Brie with strawberries is not a combination I would ever have come up with myself, and it was perfect. I demolished them.

The main event

Then the rib steak with a jacket potato arrived, and I have to be careful here because I do not want to overstate things. So let me just say it plainly: that is probably one of the best steaks I have ever had. I genuinely mean that.

It smelled amazing before I had even picked up the knife. The presentation had the wow factor. The jacket, the mushrooms, the sauce, the onion rings, every single part of it was right. I was a quarter of the way through and had to stop and tell you about it.

Dessert, twice

There was a choice of two and I could not decide, so I had both. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was unbelievable, and the white chocolate panna cotta with those strawberries was just as good.

You may say that is greedy. After a starter and a main like that, I knew the desserts were going to be worth it.

The verdict

An absolutely more than blown away experience at the Rib & Oyster in Kilgetty. The reputation this place has is completely deserved. If you have not been, get booked in, because you will not be disappointed.
