I Was Not Blown Away: An Honest Wetherspoons Breakfast

A £6.79 breakfast, a table that needed cleaning, and rubbery eggs. Not every experience is a good one, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

I Was Not Blown Away: An Honest Wetherspoons Breakfast

We all like a good deal. Come and join me as I step foot into Wetherspoons and let's see what it is all about.

I will say up front: people have told me that Wetherspoons microwave their food. I personally do not believe that. So let's find out.

Sitting down

I looked for a table with a window and luckily found one. It looked like one of the cleanest tables around.

I will be honest with you, I was not expecting to be greeted by a tissue and some marks on the table. The staff did eventually come and clean it up, which is great to see, but it is not the start you want.

The menu

There is a great selection and it all looked like incredible value for money. I do have to add that the menu itself was very, very sticky.

I went for the large breakfast. £6.79. As a price, you cannot go wrong with that.

The food

It was delivered very promptly, which was great to see, and for me it was presented very well.

And then, personally, I was very disappointed.

You can see how much I left. I ate one hash brown. I did not want to carry on after a few bites, but I thought I would give it a chance to get better. The eggs were like rubber. The bacon had a lot of grease on it and the toast was only really warm.

I did like the sausages, and I liked the baked beans.

The verdict

The service was great. The food, I am not blown away at all, and I am not going to say I was.

I came in for breakfast, I left starving, and personally I would much rather stick with the independent cafes I have been visiting recently and pay double the price for something I get genuinely excited about.

For me, very disappointed. And perhaps the people who told me about the microwave were right.

The verdict

Very disappointed. I would rather pay double at an independent cafe.
